Landscapes and the Elementals

John Drum is a visual artist who architects both the built environment and adventures in far-off places.  His primary occupation is a Project Manager in an Architectural Firm specializing in residential design and historic renovation.  He attended UCF for degrees in Art Education and a BFA in Sculpture before pursuing Architecture in Graduate School at UF.  Mr. Drum has taught pottery and sculpture as well as designing, co-owning and operating a locavore’s delight - a healthy take away bistro celebrating local farms, bakeries and producers. One could also argue that he is a Landscape Photographer based on the robust portfolio of images from his travels chasing light and the Sublime in Nature.  For the last decade, Drum has been witness to Nature's beauty and Man's cruelty wading through the LowCountry estuaries of the East Coast, traversing the more challenging trails of the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains, and saunters further West among the Colorado Rockies and Backcountry of Glacier National Park. This past Autumn he traveled and rambled with a good friend around the outer edges and isles of Scotland and footpaths of Northern Highlands and Caringorms.

To Drum, Life is a collage of overlapping interests; where a passion and respect for Nature is at the core, buttressed by grand wilderness adventures, documenting the ever-changing light of environments, and setting these travels to music and poetry; quite literally a road trip of curiosities in good company with a good mixed tape.
